A zachem vam "mestnij" diplom? Vy pytalis najti raboty bez nego i ne smogli?
Mestnij diplom imet xorosho, no sovsem ne obyazatelno. Esli vy obnaryzhite, chto ne mozhete najti raboty s vashim rossijskim diplomom, togda nado dymat o poluchenii mestnogo obrazovanija.

Poskolku u vas javno ne menshe, chem ekvivalent Bachelor's degree, to idti nado v graduate school - poluchat MBA. V xoroshuju shkolu vas vryad li voz'mut, esli net opyta raboti, no v srednjuu - voz'mut, i tam za dva goda poluchite amerikanskij diplom.

"Evaluation" o kotorom vy govorite trebyetsya dlya INS pri oformlenii rabochej vizi (kazhetsya). Esli y vas est razreshenie na raboty, to prosto pishite v resume B.S. in Finance, da i vse.

Если диплом - финансы, то надо сдавать CPA однако. При этом потребуется диплом в местный вариант перевести. У каждого штата свои требования по такому переводу. Если есть конкретные вопросы - пжлста на е-мэйл.

CPA is for accountants. In the US Accounting and Finance are usually two *different* majors, leading to different jobs. A person with a Finance degree couldn't get a CPA even if she wanted to, because to take the CPA exam you are required to have completed a certain number of accounting courses (around 8 or 10), which you don't take when you study for a degree in Finance.

The topic is not how and who can sit for a CPA exam, the topic is how to evaluate your diploma. What I was trying to say was that if you go to your tate BPA (Board of Public Acoountants) web site (FOR EXAMPLE!!) you can find the information on how to evaluate you diploma.

See Colorado for exapmle http://www.nasba.org/suppages.nsf/3dccf0b12191f5900625668100754e80/e6f04e8d0efbf8cb062566e200764e4a?OpenDocument

Also, you accounting courses can be substituted by work experience. Also, the rule of 150 hours of general education has not been approved/applied in all states.

for information on some states see http://www.beckercpa.com/cpaexam/intlinfo/6statesum.htm

Ok, maybe I am missing something. Suppose you do get your diploma evaluated. What is it used for?

As far as I know when you apply to graduate school, they do their own evaluation, all you send them is a copy of the original + certified translation.

For work - most people I know just state on their resume that they have a Bachelor's or Master's degree, and if someone wanted to check - well, you can show that you went to a post-secondary educational institution full-time for 5 years (which is what you get from reading a translated diploma) - obviously, you have a degree equal to at least Bachelor's. I don't think any American employer would doubt this.

So why spend time and money and effort on this evaluation?
(Assuming one does not want to become a CPA and does not need to satisfy their requirements.)
