The first Medicare Discount Drug Cards are being sent out next week- and the government wants to make sure seniors understand who's eligible. The Discount Drug Card offers price breaks on more than 200 classes of drugs and various medical supplies.

To qualify- you cannot have drug coverage from other sources. A 600-dollar credit is available for individual Medicare patients who make 12-thousand dollars a year or less and for couples who make 16-thousand or less. Drug card benefits run from June 2004 through January first- 2006.
To get the card all seniors need to do is fill out a Medicare form and mail it in.
