Something Beautiful to Think About...
Ahhh, something beautiful IS in the works... Congrats to all. It will be so easy to pass this bill after certain events coming our way.
Universal National Service Act of 2003 (Introduced in House)
...
(a) OBLIGATION FOR YOUNG PERSONS - It is the obligation of every citizen of the United States, and every other person residing in the United States, who is between the ages of 18 and 26 to perform a period of national service as prescribed in this Act unless exempted under the provisions of this Act.

But life is not a succession of urgent "now's". It's a listless trickle of "why should I's".

"It is important to note that the sponsors of the draft legislation were against the Iraq war. They probably hope to create anxiety in the public that will erode support for the war and hurt President Bush politically," said Stephen Mockabee, a UC political science professor.
Both Bush and Sen. John Kerry have opposed reinstating the draft, Mockabee also said. "It would be political suicide for either of them to endorse such an unpopular policy in the midst of a tight election campaign."
Milne said she doesn't think it will pass.
"I don't see much likelihood of it happening in an election year, but it could happen later," Milne said. "We can't know. But personally, I don't see it happening."

2005 Draft Twin Bills S (89) H.R. (163) ... This so called 100 year war on "TERRORISM" can be traced back to Dick Cheney's 1992 policy for American World Dominance at the Behest of the "COUNCIL ON FOREIGN RELATIONS". This policy was refined in 1997 by Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and Perle and Titled "PROJECT FOR THE NEW AMERICAN CENTURY" (PNAC). The Neo-Conservatives drafted as a plan for American World dominance, expansionism for the NEW WORLD ORDER" seems to be the underlying motive, so for those emailing your senators and congressman on why the draft bills in congress you need to understand the Foreign Policy this will also bring you information on 9/11. Look up "Project For The New American Century" and you will understand why the draft bills are in congress.
Twin Bills have been introduced to receive a National Draft to include both men and woman between the ages of 18-26. The house version is H.R. (163) and the Senate is S (89) in the senate the Bill is titled "Universal National Service Act of 2003. 28 million dollars has been appropriated to the selective service system budget in preparation for a draft.
The Pentagon is currently attempting to fill 11,070 appeals board and 10,350 draft board positions Nationwide. One would suspect this Bill to voted on in the Heat of some type of manufactured crises like another terrorist attack. Then you will see a call for a National Draft maybe even Marshall Law and forced conscription.

Don't you think that the legislation has to pass first?
BTW, your information comes from congress.org, a rather interesting resource. Are you aware of the terms of use, particularly:
YOU MAY NOT DISTRIBUTE ANY PART OF THIS SERVICE OVER ANY NETWORK, INCLUDING A LOCAL AREA NETWORK
A link would be enough.

I think it's not bad for the general public to be aware of what's on the Senate table and kind of keep an eye on it. If and when it passes, it will be just a tiny bit too late for some to make plans. In this country still there is such thing as freedom of information.
And, yep, I'm aware of my sources and the terms of use. But why are you so mad, darling SlavickP? Just report me, if it makes you happy; otherwise bull somebody else, please.

Absolutely.

This is somewhat different from your initial "It will be so easy to pass this bill after certain events coming our way". It starts to make sense.

You betcha

Call me dear Slavick, or just darling, if you please. The point is, a link to the Web resource is much better than selective quoting, yet it allows you to be compliant to the terms of use.

Makes me wonder
"I think one way for us to end up being viewed as the ugly American is for us to go around the world saying, 'We do it this way, so should you.'"
-- G. W. Bush, Oct. 11, 2000.
После выборов он заговорил совсем по-другому.
Вот так и с призывом - до выборов все против, а после?
