Downing Street Memo наконец-то выплыло на свет божий.

Post by VladimirF »

Вот информация по этому поводу, интересная тем, что она даёт полную цитату из этого мемо:

Tomorrow, June 16, Congressman John Conyers will hold a hearing into the Downing Street Memo, the leaked British briefing notes that document the Bush Administration's intention to attack Iraq and its efforts to create public rationale for their pre-planned illegal war.
...The memo is a document containing minutes transcribed during a meeting between British Prime Minister Tony Blair, members of his cabinet and other top military and security officials, on July 23, 2002. The head of British foreign intelligence (MI 6), Richard Dearlove, identified in the memo as "C," had just returned from a meeting with the U.S. National Security Council in Washington.
..."C reported on his recent talks in Washington. There was a perceptible shift in attitude. Military action was now seen as inevitable. Bush wanted to remove Saddam, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy. The NSC had no patience with the UN route, and no enthusiasm for publishing material on the Iraqi regime's record. There was little discussion in Washington of the aftermath after military action."
Lawmakers Push Resolution on Iraq Pullout
JUNE 16, 2005
President Bush would have to start bringing home U.S. troops from Iraq by Oct. 1, 2006, under a measure a small bipartisan group of House lawmakers - including a Republican who voted for war - proposed Thursday. Details

Может быть это только начало?

USA is losing patience on Iraq

WASHINGTON — Nearly six in 10 Americans say the United States should withdraw some or all of its troops from Iraq, a new Gallup Poll finds, the most downbeat view of the war since it began in 2003.

Patience for the war has dropped sharply as optimism about the Iraqi elections in January has ebbed and violence against U.S. troops hasn't abated. For the first time, a majority would be "upset" if President Bush sent more troops.

War does not determine who is right - only who is left.
