We got a security system after our house was broken into last May (in the middle of the day with a babysitter and our baby being inside the house). We asked local friends and selected our system based on their recommendation, “A&B Alarm”.
All systems are about the same: you buy/rent equipment (what you need/want) and pay monthly fee (2 plus years commitment). When you select the equipment, think about all members of your family
: we have a cat and we could not have "motion detection" since she would set if off. You can have “glass breaking” versus “window opening” detection on your windows for example. You can leave window a little open with first choice, but if you break a (drinking) glass in the sink next to your alarmed window, you may set of off.
We also have a fire alarm with them. One day my husband was cooking and set it off – they called immediately asking “are you OK’?
