Paracetomol?

Does anybody know what it's not used in the US? It cannot be because of safety concerns - all EU countries have it and they are strict about safety too.

And Ibuprofen cannot be qualified as such? Is it aspirin-based?

It's not, but it can cause allergic reactions in aspirin-sensitive people (like my husband - he can only take the non-aspirin based pain killers).
