Large Rally for Rubashkin in Los Angeles

Some 800 people took part in a Los Angeles rally on Monday evening, in support of convicted meat-plant owner Sholom Rubashkin. Rubashkin was sentenced to 27 years in prison on Monday for various counts of financial fraud, what many perceived as the thinly-disguised anti-Semitism of a disproportionate sentence. “For a 51-year-old man, 27 years is essentially a life sentence – and for a white-collar crime,” several said.

Rubashkin is the former CEO of the Postville, Iowa Agriprocessors kosher meatpacking plant, which was the world’s largest, producing half of the United States' kosher meat.

Помимо вполне ожидаемых от него финансовых и иммиграционных афёр его slaughterhouse ещё и является символом абсолютно бесчеловечного обращения с животными.

Там случайно нигдене планируется никаких маршей ЗА его осуждение, продление срока, отмену права на амнистию и т.д. ?

The rabbi’s son, Sholom Rubashkin, confessed last month to lying to federal agents when he falsely claimed his family had no interest in the mill at the time the offenses were committed. Moshe Rubashkin, 49, and his son Sholom Rubashkin, 28, face sentencing later in the year, and each face a maximum of $250,000 in fines and 5 years in jail.

During his tenure as CEO, Agriprocessors became the United State's largest kosher slaughterhouse and meat packing plant and the only one authorized by Israel's Orthodox rabbinate to export beef to Israel...

On May 12, 2008, the FBI raided the plant and arrested 389 workers that lacked documentation.[3] At that time, it was the largest raid into a workplace in the US.[3]

On October 30, 2008, Rubashkin was arrested on federal conspiracy charges of harboring illegal immigrants and aiding and abetting aggravated identity theft.

According to the U.S. attorney's office for the Northern District of Iowa, those arrested "include 290 Guatemalans, 93 Mexicans, 2 Israelis and 4 Ukrainians".[5]
