In a recent search for Ephedra in google, I came up with a website ephedra outlet. com where they state not all ephedra is banned. Here's the quote

Ephedra is the name of the genus(family) of plants, not the actual plants itself. The ones that contain ephedrine are ephedra distachya and Ephedra sinica.
Ephedra Viridis is the one that a lot of these companies are putting into their products because it pretty abundant in desert and mountain regions. While it can be used for some tonics and medicines, its NOT a product that contains the compounds nessesary for the drug ephedrine.
So if you see a company that's hawking this stuff, avoid them at all cost because the product is completely worthless.

Я бы еще посмотрел эфедрин в онлайн-аптеках, в особенности зарубежных (начиная с канадских). Его нельзя рекламировать и продавать как dietary supplement, но его до сих пор совершенно легально иметь и покупать.
