Platts, a McGraw Hill Financial company, is a leading global provider of energy, petrochemicals, metals and agriculture information, and a premier source of benchmark price assessments for those commodity markets. We are building out an analytics group for our Oil products vertical and seeking a seasoned Software Development Team Lead to drive multiple software development projects. This is a new role created in our Downtown Houston office to support our growth and plans for further expansion.

As our Software Development Team Lead you will meet and work closely with department managers, our product development and IT teams to understand their needs, build new software products from ground up, and support, modify, and enhance existing Platts offerings. This is a hands-on position that will require deep technical knowledge and experience. You will also have an opportunity to help build out a development team, shape the way it operates and delivers value to its customers. You will be a key resource in driving every facet of the software development process. Solutions built by your team will have a material impact across the organization and will potentially be used in creating new software products in other parts of Platts.

The salary range for this position is 115-130K. We will consider a visa transfer and/or relocation package for the right candidate, however local candidates will be given a preference.

What Should You Bring To the Table
To be a great fit for the position your experience includes several years of designing and developing desktop and web applications. You have outstanding knowledge of Microsoft .NET development stack, including C#, ASP.NET, server side and front-end technologies, as well as advanced database development skills, preferably with MS SQL Server. You are well versed in software design and architecture, designed highly complex underlying engineering for use in multiple product offerings and support of large volume of end users. You keep abreast with the latest technology trends and enjoy developing applications for the cloud environments, such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services.
You are an agile software development methodology adept, striving to deliver customer value early and often. You know the good and the bad of Scrum, XP, and Kanban software development processes and are able to help a team achieve its peak form using appropriate practices. You enjoy writing beautiful code, utilizing proper design and engineering techniques. You know ins and outs of design and architectural patterns, can explain in simple terms when, where and how to use, and more importantly, not to use them. You believe that test driven development, simple design, refactoring, coding standards, and continuous integration are the foundation of any successful software development process and you actively practice them.
