Castro still in power

Post by AlecSeattle »

Removing Castro and invading Cuba would be a very good business for America. Imagine Hawaii on a East Coast. And the best part, cubans would be happy for a change. So whats stopping american invasion?

"America is the greatest, freest, and most decent society in existence. It is an oasis of goodness in a desert of cynicism and barbarism." (Dinesh D'Souza. What's so great about America).

"...on a East Coast..." You wanted to say "...on AN East Coast". How many East Coasts has America? Wouldn't it be better to say "...on THE East coast".

AND it's not true that the Cubans would be happy if the USA invaded their country: they are too proud to be Cubans, not Yankees. So what's stopping an American invasion?

You'd better. Even saying ".. on AN East(ern) Coast..." implies that there are SEVERAL (i.e. more than one) of them, which is not true. So, the only right way here is to say "..on THE East(ern) Coast". Everybody knows at once what coast you are referring to. That simple. Your allusion to "V Ukrainu..", as opposed to "Na Ukrainu..." has nothing to do here. The Russian Grammar does not allow the use of articles, though some Northern Russian dialects DO use articles, in a way which is curiously very similar to their use in the Bulgarian language: So, some Northern Russians would never misuse "a/an" and "the", as they have a natural feel for the articles in their blood.
