The Russian Central Election Commission posted information about 1999-2002 income and property submitted by registered presidential candidate Vladimir Putin and the first lady.
Putin’s total income was about RUR7.780m (about $271,833) in 1999-2002. Its sources were the Russian Presidential Administration, the Russian Presidential Office, and the Russian Federal Bodyguard Service. In addition, Putin received copyright remuneration for literary works from OLMA-Press Publishers and Arnoldo Mondadori Editore Libri Illustrate. Also, he earned income from the sale of real estate.
The incumbent president has a plot of land in the Moscow region. It is 1,500 square meters in space and has neither a summer cottage nor a house on it. Additionally, he owns an apartment in St. Petersburg (77 square meters) and two garages. Mr. Putin does not own a car.
The president has three banking accounts at the Industrial and Construction Bank (RUR498,128, or $17,405), Sberbank of Russia (RUR3.258m, or $113,834), and the Baltic Bank (RUR61,407, or $2,146). He is a holder of shares in Bank St. Petersburg (0.00015 percent).
Putin also has a license of the Moscow government to use a flat in Moscow that is 153.7 square meters in space. He can also use a garage.
In 1999-2002, the president’s spouse, Lyudmila Putina, earned RUR11,000 (about $384), which was income from a sale of a plot of land. She has accounts at the Industrial and Construction Bank (RUR11,752, or $411), and Sberbank (RUR4.401m, or $153,771). Ms Putin owns neither real estate nor an automobile.
In addition, according to Sberbank of Russia, as of January 28, 2004, incumbent president Vladimir Putin had the largest election fund. It amounted to RUR14.327m (about $500,585). Putin has already spent RUR4.277m (about $149,438) from his election fund.
In total, as of January 28, 2004, funds of all presidential candidates received RUR26.552m (about $927,727). They have already spent RUR11.585m (about $404,780) for campaigning.
