А в каких еще индустриях (кроме финансов) востребован русский язык за пределами России / СНГ ?

Хороший вопрос - я честно скажу - думаю что негде. Это печально, но факт. Но тем не менее, финансы первый сектор, где можно честно гордится происхождением и знанием русского языка.
