Renters Insurance

Many apartment complexes require renters insurance.
How do you deal with it? Is there a way to NOT get one and still keep the apartment or rent one?

I don't want to hear about the benefits of insurance. Since I don't have anything to insure, it's just a waste of money.

IFAIK, renters insurance can not be mandatory. I rented whole bunch of apartments on 4 different states, they always told me that RI is "Highly Advisable", but not mandatory.

I suppose there's no regulation requiring that but it's up to the property management to impose such requirements.

Were you on a 12 month lease and declined to sign up for renter's insurance at the beginning?

FYI, in the past I came across at least 2 apartment complexes that told me that renters insurance was mandatory. I did not lease apartments from them but I am looking for another one now. I am sure I will run into the same problem and would like to have a ready response to that.

If you don't have anything to insure, then your insurance $$ payments will be rather little.

Например, Вы живете на втором этаже, открыли кран, заткнули пробкой раковину, забыли выключить воду и уехали в Переделкино.
Подобная годовая страховка от AAA стоит чуть больше $100, что являтся микроскопической суммой по сравнению со стоимостью годового договора aренды
