Сам этот вопрос задавал неоднократно - все молчат, как будто минимум после Иняза и язык в США не учили...8(
А оказалось все просто - выбираешь ближайший колледж и ищещь программу ESL - простое тестирование и идешь на бесплатные курсы, я например такое нашел в Рентоне.

Я тоже искала, где подучить английский (San-Jose, Fremont, CA. Вырисовались следующие пути.
1. Community College - стоит порядка 110-120 долларов за unit в семестр (в среднем набирается 3-5 units) для нерезидента и 11 долларов unit для резидента (нужно прожить в штате год и один день)
2. Платные курсы и школы. При занятиях 5 раз в неделю по 3-4 часа стоят в-среднем около 800-900 и выше в месяц.
3. Бесплатные курсы при библиотеках и в школах. В библиотеках, не пробовала. А по поводу школ, - нужно найти по желтым страницам elementary schools или adult schools, и спросить есть ли у них ESL курсы(English as Second Language).
Можно еще попробовать искать по Интернету, некоторые курсы имеют свои странички. Ключевое слово English as Second Language и название города. Удачи!
