FY 2000 H-1B Adjudications
All four service centers have begun adjudicating H-1B cases that count
against the FY 2000 cap. The Texas and Nebraska Service Centers likely will
adjudicate before October 1 those H-1Bs filed one month before the beginning of FY 2000, which begins on October 1. (Texas has under 10,000 cases pending.) The Vermont and California Service Centers are less likely to meet the October 1 date because they have larger backlogs.

* "Case date" means the year (first two digits) and the number of the
day of the year (the next three digits).
* "Data entry" means the receipt date of the last case taken from the
shelf assigned to the officer as of the date of the JIT

Report. It does not mean that the case is adjudicated on that date.
Therefore, to make an inquiry, you must wait 30 days from that date.
* "Work days" exclude Saturday, Sunday, and holidays.
* "Vacant" means no application is on the shelf, but the officer may
still have it on his/her desk.
