Детский День рождения -- как лучше организовать?

Через 2 недели у сына будет День рождения (7 лет). Он ждет его с нетерпением, хочет пригласить друзей, а мы даже не знаем с какой стороны ко всему подобраться. Я слышала,что здесь принято проводить конкурсы, дарить небольшие подарочки, водить детей в детское кафе...Но как мы, с нашим (средненьким)английским, будем все это делать с англоговорящими детьми, я представляю с трудом. Может у кого-нибудь есть опыт, поделитесь, пожалуйста.

just to share an experience -my daughter celebrated 6 birthdays over here (8-14), so what we usually do is - icerink-party. We like ice-skating and willing to teach kids a bit. Usually places like that ( bowling, pools, arcades and so on) have special "party-packages". That thing would include cake, soda, napkins and stuff ..like baloons...and say two hours of either game-time (with tokens for arcade) or skating time ( with rental and admission tickets). It costs about $60 or so and usually there is a minimal requirement for number of kids.
So, good part of it- kids will play on their
own and you will have a good time too(no house cleaning and no hassle with kids who don't know how to entertain themselves)
I don't think that you'd have ANY problem with your english. Just call up couple of places (look up your Yellow pages) and ask them what kind of "birthday party package" do they have.
