Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Network Operations Center Technician will diagnose and troubleshoot alerts from systems, perform routine maintenance, and field support calls.
KEY FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Installation of software and applications
Diagnose and resolve first level support calls related to web applications (Jboss, Tomcat, Apache), database (Oracle, MySQL) and server (Linux) issues
Rapid and accurate response to emergency alerts
Document problems and resolution techniques
Work effectively with internal technical and customer-facing organizations to resolve issues quickly and efficiently, including quick and accurate inter-departmental communication
Escalate requests when needed to next level for rapid problem resolution
Provide status reports and customer follow-up in a timely and professional manner
Work on DevOps infrastructure projects on an as-available basis
There will be one weekend per month of on-call duty
This position is a 3rd shift (overnight EST) position
Required Skills
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate or Bachelors degree in related field, preferably Computer Science, Engineering
2 to 3 years experience in System Administration role
Experience working in team-oriented environments
Unix/Linux Operating Systems (and associated tools and commands) and basic Ethernet and Internet working knowledge is required
Proficient with first-level System Administration of Linux (RedHat/CentOS) environment, including basic scripting (one of bash, Perl, Python, PHP).
Experienced in installation and support of Linux based Operating systems
Demonstrated understanding of TCP/IP and Ethernet inter-networked environments
Understanding of system monitoring tools (Nagios, PNP4Nagios, Thruk)
Competencies and Attributes:
Effective customer-facing communication skills about issues and resolutions.
Operating System and Application Patch and Hot-Fix deployment technologies
Self-motivation, sense of responsibility, and proven organizational skills
Tenacity in the face of challenging problems
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
